At Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistrythe Chair of Inorganic Chemistry I offers a position of

Research Associate (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification, employees are paid according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

from January 1, 2023. The position involves 50% of full-time weekly hours and is limited until September 30, 2025. The employment period is governed by the Fixed-Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG). As part of the research project, the employee has the opportunity to summarize the project results in a doctoral thesis and to obtain a doctorate in inorganic chemistry.

Tasks: primary synthesis and characterization of porous solids such as model porous carbons, silica and organometallic frameworks. The other task is the development of instrumentation for in situ radiography and tomography alongside the adsorption of gases and liquids. The instrumentation will be commissioned at BAMline of the BESSY II synchrotron (HZB, Berlin). Writing beam time applications, instrumentation manuals, measurement and data analysis are part of the job of the research associate.

Terms: university degree in chemistry or experimental physics (Master or equivalent); good knowledge in the characterization of porous solids (PXRD, nitrogen physisorption, SEM, IR, NMR, etc); basic knowledge of X-ray imaging and tomography, good knowledge of PC, knowledge of Python programming language and CAD-3D software are advantageous; experience in the use of scientific equipment; strong personal motivation; Good command of written and spoken English; teamwork ability and organizational talent; desire for business trips.
