Research Associate (m/f/x)

The position is to be filled on next possible date and is for a fixed term until February 28, 2025 with the possibility of extension. The duration of employment is governed by the law on fixed-term research contracts (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG). The position offers the possibility of obtaining an additional academic qualification. Reconciling family and career is an important issue. Embedded in a very dynamic research field, the Industrial Communications Chair offers the opportunity to help shape the future of communication systems in the context of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industry 4.0, to gain valuable experience in conducting research projects and build or expand a professional network with research and industry partners.

Tasks: Analysis and development of concepts and architectures for an integration of Cyber ​​​​Physical Systems and Internet of Things components in industrial applications, specifically in automation and control systems; design of information models and their transition to software solutions; integration of information models into wireless and wired industrial communication systems and their associated software tools; technology screening of IoT and CPS. Research results will be published at international conferences and in recognized journals.

Terms: excellent university degree (M.Sc. or diploma) in the field of computer science, electrical engineering or comparable; in-depth knowledge of object-oriented software development and model design using Unified Modeling Language (UML) or SysML, description languages ​​for automation components, and information modeling in the automation, for example using OPC UA. Knowledge of Industrial Ethernet and networking is an advantage.
