The Institute for Concrete Structures (IMB) at the Dresden University of Technology (TUD) has been teaching for more than 100 years. Today, two chairs belong to the institute. Teaching and research topics range from reinforced concrete in all its facets in experimentation and simulation to supporting structures for onshore and offshore wind turbines, railway bridges for high-speed traffic and building monitoring. The Faculty of Civil Engineering, Institute of Concrete Structures (Prof. Marx) offers, subject to available resources, a post of

Research Associate (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification, employees are paid according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

from the earliest possible date. The position is limited until November 30, 2024. The period of employment is governed by the law on fixed-term research contracts (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). The position offers the possibility of obtaining an additional academic qualification.

Task: Scientific investigations, in particular within the framework of the BMBF WIRreFa project | WIR recycled fibers “From recycled fiber to new product”. The project focuses on the experimental and numerical study of reinforcements made from recycled fibers. A brief description of the overall project can be found at the following link:

The missions include scientific investigations in the field of non-metallic reinforcements, in particular from recycled carbon fibers; literature search; acquire knowledge through theoretical, experimental and numerical investigations; creation of experimental concepts incl. test implementation, evaluation and documentation; (continue) development of design approaches; publication of research results in scientific journals and at conferences. In addition, project supervision of student projects and theses (diploma and master’s) also falls within the scope of the duties.

Terms: university degree in the field of civil engineering, building materials engineering or comparable with an above average academic performance; strong interest in civil engineering and mechanics; strong sense of responsibility, reliability and high degree of initiative; good organizational skills and an independent and conscientious approach to work; good team spirit and communication skills, including good oral and written skills; very good English skills and at least a basic knowledge of German; skilled in the use of technology and software commonly used in this profession.
