Associate Researcher, Interdisciplinary Center for Computational Sciences job with TECHNISCHE UNIVERSITAT DRESDEN (TU DRESDEN)

As part of the artificial intelligence (AI) strategy of the German government, the successful Saxon competence center ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig (Center for Scalable Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence) is being extended to a leading German AI competence center for big data and artificial intelligence (AI).

At Interdisciplinary Center for Digital Sciencesthe Department ScaDS.AI offers the ScaDS-22.3 station for this purpose from as soon as possible like a

Research Associate (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification, employees are paid according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

limited to 3 years with possibility of extension. The position includes 75% of full-time weekly hours. The duration of employment is governed by the law on fixed-term research contracts (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). The position offers the possibility of obtaining an additional academic qualification.

Professional mission: Chair of Stochastic Analysis and Financial Mathematics (Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Martin Keller-Ressel)

Search area: Learning geometric representation

Tasks: Research on geometric methods and representations in machine learning, in particular with a focus on hyperbolic geometry, integration of methods for graphs and networks, supervised learning in non-Euclidean contexts, integration and l learning under hierarchical and relational constraints, theoretical guarantees and error bounds for geometric integration methods, prediction and inference of contagion and diffusion processes in non-Euclidean geometry.

Terms: very good university degree in mathematics or computer science and in closely related fields with a strong theoretical/methodological orientation; curiosity and strong interest in rigorous and methodical fundamental research; very good programming skills, preferably in Python; very good command of written and spoken English. Prior knowledge of linear algebra, mathematical geometry, stochastics and optimization is preferred.
