as part of the research project KI-assistierte Zertifizierung medizinischer Software (KIMEDS), from March 01, 2022. The position is limited until February 28, 2025. The period of employment is governed by the law on fixed-term research contracts (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). The position offers the possibility of obtaining an additional academic qualification (eg a doctorate).

Tasks: The growing complexity of programmable medical devices contrasts fundamentally with an outdated certification process, which often still relies on tables and manually generated texts. The goal of KIMEDS is to fundamentally improve the security, transparency and efficiency of certification by developing a system of interoperable ontology-based software tools and services, supported by AI and standardized at scale. international. As a collaborator of this joint interdisciplinary project with the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus, certification authorities and manufacturers of medical devices, you will be involved in the realization of this vision using methods of knowledge representation and automatic reasoning . The position is focused on basic research. Publication and presentation of research results in international venues are important parts of the work.

Requirements: We are looking for motivated and talented employees with a very good university degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in computer science or a related field. The position is particularly suitable for candidates with prior experience in the following subjects:

  • AI methods in the areas of knowledge representation, logic programming, logical reasoning;
  • foundations and applications of other symbolic AI methods, eg planning, process modeling, optimization;
  • design and implementation of related systems in common programming languages.

Candidates should organize their work independently, enjoy working in a team and speak and write German and English fluently.
