At Faculty of Civil Engineeringthe Institute of Steel and Wood Construction seeks to fill the

Chair (W2) of wood engineering

from April 1, 2024.

As holder of the chair in wood engineering, you (m/f/x) will represent the scientific fields of wood engineering, construction design and renewable building materials with a commitment to research and teaching. Your teaching duties will mainly focus on the degree program in civil engineering in the direct and distance study program as well as on the English-speaking master’s program ACCESS (Advanced Computational and Civil Engineering Structural Studies). We expect you to acquire third-party funding from federal sources (DFG, BMBF, BMWI, etc.) as well as the EU. We attach particular importance to your willingness to cooperate with other professorships of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and other faculties of TU Dresden. Cooperation with non-university research institutions in the vicinity of TU Dresden is desired. We expect your active participation in academic self-administration as well as willingness to teach in English.

We expect relevant practical experience in civil and structural engineering. In addition, in-depth knowledge in the fields of wood structural engineering, building construction and green building is desired. You must be able to demonstrate your ability to conduct academic research through appropriate publication activity. Applicants must fulfill the professional qualification requirements of the Law on Autonomy of Higher Education Institutions of the Free State of Saxony (§ 58 SächsHSFG).
