To TU Dresden, “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, the Institute of Railway Systems and Public Transport seeks to nominate an outstanding candidate for the Chair (W3) Railway Engineering

departure as soon as possible.

Based on the growing importance of rail transport as a sustainable, environmentally friendly and mass mode of transport, the chair seeks innovative methods for the data-driven life cycle management of modern railways. By making extensive use of the possibilities of digital data processing for modelling, analysis and prognosis, the railway system will be endowed with a highly available, intelligent and economical railway.

As a chair holder, you (m/f/x) will represent the scientific field of railway infrastructure in teaching and research. You will have a teaching obligation within the master’s and diploma programs of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences “Friedrich List” as well as in teaching export for the Faculty of Civil Engineering, among others. We await your participation in academic self-administration and your willingness to teach in English. One of your main tasks will also be to successfully acquire third-party funding from federal (DFG, BMBF or European sources, and from industrial partners. We place particular emphasis on your willingness to cooperate with other faculty chairs and other faculties of TU Dresden as well as non-university research institutions near TU Dresden, in particular the DRESDEN alliance -concept.

We are looking for a dynamic and dedicated scientist with international academic experience in the field of railway infrastructure.

We invite applications with a strong profile in at least one of the following areas:

  • Construction, operation and maintenance of railways
  • Railway infrastructure design and planning process
  • Innovative diagnostic and maintenance methods (predictive maintenance, smart infrastructure)
  • Modeling and simulation of railway behavior
  • Lifecycle management to increase efficiency and availability.

Knowledge in the fields of application of track experiments as well as in measurement and test bench technology is desirable. For conducting experimental research, the railway construction laboratory with multifunctional test equipment is available. Applicants with international teaching and research experience are welcome. In the area of ​​research, you must be able to demonstrate your ability to conduct academic research through appropriate publication activity. We welcome your application if you hold a university degree in the field of railway construction, civil engineering or relevant related disciplines. Applicants must fulfill the professional qualification requirements of § 58 of the Law on the Autonomy of Higher Education Institutions of the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG).
