The holiday spirit will be alive and well in Dresden on Thursday evening as it transforms into Christmas town.

Final preparations for the transformation have been completed to launch nightly shopping each week during Merry and Bright Thursdays.

Downtown merchants will be open late until 8 p.m. and there will be activities for the whole family, including special exhibits and workshops led by the Dresden History Group. There will also be special celebrations at the new Town Christmas Tree next to City Hall, as well as a large Christmas light installation.

“We are excited to continue to grow and build Christmas Town,” Dresden Shines committee member Stuart Kiar said in a press release. “So many volunteers have come together to make this happen, and it’s truly fascinating to see what’s possible when we’re all working towards a goal.”

The annual Dresden Christmas Night Market will also return on Saturday, November 26 from 3-8 p.m., with nearly 100 local makers to shop, food trucks, performances, community groups, a carving demonstration wood, pictures with Santa, a holiday pop-up bar, festive lights and decorations.
