The popular event will feature local vendors, food trucks, downtown businesses and late-night restaurants, live music and a pop-up bar.

“We’ve added new artists this year, and we’re thrilled to see them interact with the crowd,” co-host Tyler Ouellette said in a statement.

“The BIA is also transforming a section of St. George Street to showcase downtown businesses, and artists have painted picnic tables to add a splash of color to rest areas.”

The market will run from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and will extend to Jackson Park, where there will be live music, the bar with local craft brews and the Dresden Legion’s wine bar, as well as several food trucks .

Merchants and community groups will have their kiosks on Main and Brown streets.

“There will be a dozen community groups and non-profit organizations joining us this year,” added co-organizer Moréna McDonald.

“We want to recognize the great work they do in Chatham-Kent, but we also want to help guests and residents find opportunities to become more involved in the community through volunteering.

Another novelty is the zero waste approach.

“A lot of waste is generated at events, and we hope to reduce waste as much as possible,” Ouellette said. “We will give each pop-up bar guest a reusable cup to use at the Night Market, and they can bring it back to our future events.

“The cups can be rinsed at our rinse station between uses, thanks to a sponsorship from Maple Mutual Insurance.

McDonald’s said it is also encouraging customers to bring their own reusable utensils, straws, napkins and bags.

“We also encourage food vendors to ask customers if they need any of these items before ordering,” she said. “They will still have plastic utensils and straws if needed, and food will still be served in single-use containers.”

The market was started in 2017 by a small group of friends, and takes place during the festive period and in the summer. It is made possible thanks to the municipal grant Together CK.
