Interests: Sanskrit; Religious studies, Asian religions, Vedic studies. Interests: modern Japanese literature and film; censorship, suicide, and death in modern Japan; adaptations; translation theory and practice. Interests: Indian Buddhism asceticism comparison in the study of religion religious boundary-making. Interests: Critical development, entrepreneurialism, expatriate communities, social theory, global labor and gender.

Welcome to The University of Texas at Austin. With over forty instructors, the department is one of the largest and most distinguished in the country. The department teaches the histories, cultures, religions, and literatures of Asia, as well as the contemporary issues facing Asian countries from economic and ecological issues to security and ethnic conflicts.
