Research Associate and Group Leader (mister/f/x)

in the field of machine learning approaches for materials discovery and data analysis
(subject to personal qualification, employees are paid according to salary group E 14 TV-L)

departure at the next possible date and limited for an initial period of 3 years with the possibility of extension up to a maximum of 6 years. The duration of employment is governed by the law on fixed-term research contracts (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). The position is aimed at obtaining an additional academic qualification (e.g. an habilitation thesis).

The scientific activities of the Materials Science and Nanotechnology Chair focus on the development of innovative strategies for new materials and components with intrinsic complexity at the nanometric scale. Tasks: scientific research work in the field of machine learning approaches for material discovery (low-dimensional materials and structures) and data analysis (sensor output data) in cooperation with internal academic and industrial partners and external; participation in the acquisition of third-party funds and in the teaching activities of the chair.

Terms: excellent university degree, preferably with a doctorate in natural sciences or engineering; extensive experience in data science, machine learning methods and programming (especially Python). We are looking for a top scientist with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English who wants to make a mark in science.
