Item to note: Residents of Hanover and Norwich, the two towns in the Dresden Interstate School District, will decide to spend $1.8 million to rebuild the track at Hanover High School and improve the district baseball field in Norwich.

Voters will also be asked to approve a new two-year contract for teachers that would add $394,000 to next year’s spending and $284,000 to next year’s. A three-year support staff contract is also included in the terms of reference.

Races contested: The Dresden school board includes members of the councils of Hanover and Norwich, and elections will be held in both cities. Hanover has a lively series of races contested by school boards, while in Norwich two holders run unopposed.

Budgets and expenditure items: The proposed budget of $29.3 million, which does not include other items of expenditure on the mandate, is more than $1.1 million higher than current year expenditure, an increase of about 4%.

When, where and how to vote: Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1 at Hanover High School Gymnasium for Hanover voters and at Tracy Hall for Norwich voters.
