Welcome Home art exhibition at Union Square in Dresden

DRESDEN, OH – A new art exhibit will welcome the community to view many creative and beautiful works of art.

The “Welcome Home” art exhibition opens this week in Dresden Union Square. 27 works of art will be judged by Yan Sun of Muskingum University and Lisa Crook, executive director of Art Exhibit Showcases in Louisville. Art show owner Lurenda Hayes said the art on display is presented by some of the artists who were left without a studio after the Masonic Temple burned down.

“Lepi Real Estate offered us accommodation for six months without rent and we decided to come here. We wanted people to come and see this beautiful building and what it has to offer the community.

Artist-in-Residence Jennifer Johnson Baker explained how there will be seven prizes awarded for the best artwork, including Best in Exhibit, Photography and Honorable Mentions. the art exhibition coincides with the annual ladies’ night that Dresden organizes each autumn.

“We invite the public in Zanesville and all surrounding counties to come see their local artists because we have great artists in this county and surrounding counties. We have people in Newark, we have people in Perry County, so there’s a variety of art to see and that’s just an extension of what’s happening in Zanesville with ZAAP, the Zanesville Appalachian Art Project and the Art Colony of Zanesville.

The Welcome Home Art Exhibition will take place in Union Square at 701 Union Street in Dresden on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There is no entrance fee to enjoy the art.
